FinTech-Startup troy starts European Expansion in the Netherlands – Daniela Straube appointed Managing Director Netherlands
PRESS RELEASE
Lippstadt / Hamburg, 8 July 2020 – The FinTech start-up troy, which specialises in digital, customer-friendly debt collection, is expanding in Europe. From now on, troy is represented with its own subsidiary in the Netherlands. With this first office outside of Germany, FinTech is underlining its conviction that a good customer experience all over the world plays the decisive key role for stable customer relationships – especially when it comes to sensitive consumer issues such as debt collection. The high degree of digitalisation, the great social relevance and the high demands of consumer protection in the Netherlands form the ideal conditions for the first step in the internationalisation of troy. In addition, the FinTech is reacting to the demand from clients of the company who would like to use troy’s debt collection services in the Netherlands as well. The subsidiary is headed by Daniela Straube as Managing Director.
To ensure a positive customer experience, troy relies on an appreciative, friendly tone combined with transparency and technology. Clients and customers have complete real-time visibility into all communication they are involved in the collection process, providing full transparency of the history, status and next steps. troy uses the communication channels that customers prefer, including mail, SMS and messenger services. This makes receivables management fast and efficient for all parties involved.
troy was founded in 2017 by Philip Rürup and Till Völzke in Lippstadt, Germany, and currently has offices in Lippstadt and Hamburg. At the end of 2019, troy was selected by SAP.iO, SAP’s founding initiative, as one of six European startups for the first accelerator program for FinTechs from SAP.iO. Within ten weeks, troy developed a solution for integrating its collection services into the financial modules of SAP, the market leader for business software. In March 2020, troy launched the “troy together” initiative (www.troytogether.de) in response to the Corona crisis. It supports troy clients in setting up uncomplicated individual agreements, including waiver of claims, for those customers who have experienced payment difficulties due to Corona.
Philip Rürup, founder and managing director of troy, explains the expansion course: “Debt collection, social responsibility and consumer protection go hand in hand. In the Netherlands, the topic is handled just as sensitively as in Germany, but also pragmatically. Due to the higher degree of digitalization, society is more willing to communicate quickly and efficiently via digital channels. This includes debt collection processes. The Netherlands are therefore a logical first step in our international expansion. With Daniela Straube, we also have the perfect team member who will drive forward this expansion of the Dutch subsidiary”.
Daniela Straube was appointed to the troy management team on January 1, 2020 and is now building up the subsidiary in Lemmer in the Netherlands as Managing Director. The manager has been living in the Netherlands for five years. In her former management position at Arvato Financial Solutions, she was already responsible for building up the collection business in Benelux and France.
Daniela Straube: “Companies invest a lot of time and money to win customers. When it comes to a debt collection process, the previously good customer relationship often ends and many customers make negative experiences. So far, about half of the customers have fallen into delayed payment simply out of forgetfulness or for an important reason. The Corona crisis has now led to additional consumers and companies involuntarily experiencing payment difficulties and liquidity bottlenecks. We are convinced that a good customer experience also and especially in times of Corona helps to keep customers and we have developed troy with the attitude and mission to make this good customer experience possible. I look forward to the task of building our first branch in the Netherlands and bringing our understanding of responsibility and customer experience to the Dutch market”.
